My take on Apostolics on the Web

This may be a bit out of the ordinary for me, but here it is anyways.

Where are the Apostolics? On the Dearth of Apostolic Web Ministries—A 90&9 Web Panel was recently published on Ninetyandnine.com. Technologyy and the Apostolic way of life are two very important issues in my life, so I want to do my best and stir up the conversation a bit by adding my opinion.

  • Why are there so few Apostolic websites/ministries out there?

I would say because many Apostolics are afraid of anything new. Anything that seems the least bit worldly frightens many of our pastors and preachers. It's a sad, sad situation. As a whole, Apostolics are missing a huge avenue to outreach by eliminating TV and the internet from their lists.

Even without the "fear" the internet, most Apostolics don't see the use in creating a web ministry, don't have the money to spend, or don't have the time to offer to it.

Out church has a website but it's terrible and hasn't been updated in years. It's not because our Pastor fears the internet is just that no one in the church has the burden to keep it up.

  • Are Apostolics websites more "built by us, made for us"

Absolutely. Is there a problem with that? Not necessarily. It's completely ok to make websitesdesignedd for specific people. However, others should never feel unwelcome.

  • What can be done to increase Apostolic Web Ministry

Education. Knowledge is power. When Apostolics begin to see the internet for the great tool that it is, more will get involved. It's not the best answer or the most fast acting. Unfortunately, it's the only answer. People today have to "see it to believe it." As the younger generation (raised with the internet) take leadership positions, things will change.

  • Any other commentss?

Websites are great tools. They can offer fast, efficient information. However just a website won't increase your church size or bring a revival to you. A website should be seen as a ministry, a tool to outreach to the community and possibly the world. In order to do that, it's going to take more than some pictures and a service schedule. You have to think big in order to have big results. With the internet, the sky is the limit. Get creative, get interactive, but mainly get a burden. I've been ministered too plenty of times through ninetyandnine.com and other A/P bloggers. God can bless this ministry, you just have to ask for Him to do so.
